Registration and Fees
As an LISD student, you are permitted to take 3 total credits per year as part of your normal school schedule. The combination of credits can be taken as 2 credits in the fall and 1 credit in the spring or vice versa, with a maximum of 2 credits per semester. Each A or B course listed below is only worth 0.5 credit. To receive the full 1 credit, both the A and B must be taken.
LISD students can also take VLA courses on top of a full course load or during the summer. These extra courses carry a fee and do not count against the 3 credit per year limit.
How do I register for a VLA course during the school year?
- Consult with your campus counselor.
- Go to Skyward Family Access to enter your course request.

How much do VLA online classes cost?
- For high school students, there is no charge for a class if taken as a substitute for one or more of the four regularly scheduled classes (inside the school day) and the class is one that is taught by VLA faculty.
- If you are taking an LISD VLA online class as an additional or 5th class period to supplement your schedule,
- $250 per 0.5 credit course
- $125 per 0.5 credit for students on Free or Reduced Lunch (Free and Reduced Lunch Application)
- Middle school students taking one of the high school classes to supplement their schedule will also pay a fee of
- $250 per 0.5 credit course
- $125 per 0.5 credit for students on Free or Reduced Lunch (Free and Reduced Lunch Application)
There is a fee for all courses taken during the summer through VLA
- $250 per 0.5 credit course
